As you can see on page 2 of the Kiva community boards, there is a fierce battle underway between the Kiva Mormons, The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the country of India for rankings #15, #16, #17!
This must not be allowed!
Now look, pasta has made up the vast majority of every meal my picky little mouth has ever consumed. And God has sent almost 1 out of 5 of his children to India (and chicken tikka masala has overtaken pasta as my favorite meal) and it is #1 on my places-to-visit if I ever manage a trip outside the US.
But how can we allow 1.1 billion people and a cohort of free-thinking cynics trump the restored Church?! We’ve got temples, people! And family history! The Days of 47 parade!
So I’m calling on all of you, Mormon or not, if you have not allied with a Kiva group help us win this battle!
And Germany, we’re gunning for you next…
P.S. If you haven’t ever used Kiva, it is an incredible, market-driven model for aiding poverty and development around the world. You can donate $25 at a time to entrepreneurs to folks who are trying to improve their situation: perhaps money for extra stock in their market store, more livestock to raise, etc. It is a loan, so as the loan is paid back you receive that $25 back and can reloan it time and again.
P.S. Kiva ranks by total number of loans. If you break down the top 20 by average $ per member the Mormons jump to #7 place, and if you rank by average number of loans per member the Mormons jump to #6.
If you go by total $ lent we drop to #19.
On it, bro!
you make me laugh
